The 3rd National Participation Day for Civil Society in the Republic of Moldova of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region was organised jointly by the National EUSDR Coordinator, Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, NGO BIOS in coordination with Danube Civil Society National Participation Day, Foster Europe, Foundation for strong European Regions, ILC, Danube Connect Project and Priority Area 10 responsible for civil society and participation in the EUSDR, the City of Vienna. This event was financially supported by Baden-Württemberg foundation and Austrian Development Agency (ADA) with Austrian Development and Cooperation Funds.
It was decided to organise the event in district center (Ungheni) in order to encourage participation not only national organisations in the capital, but also, local ones. The National Participation Day took place on September 18, 2018. To conduct efficiently the National Participation Day, the following agenda has been developed (the original agenda is attached):
- Welcome and opening Session
- 4 Parallel Panels: Challenges and opportunities for civil society organizations to participate in local, national and regional projects.
- A 1: New initiative of the Association of regions, cities and territorial communities of river Prut basin on EUSDR principles
- A 2: Tourism development and preservation of cultural and historical heritage
- A3: Social inclusion and innovation
- A 4: Local, national and regional participation strategies
- Presentations of the conclusions and recommendations from 4 parallel sessions.

70 participants participated at the National Participation Day for Civil Society in the Republic of Moldova of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (https://www.dropbox.com/h). Among participants were: Ms. Ludmila Guzun, Chairperson of Ungheni District, Mr. Dorin Andros, State Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE), National Coordinator of the EUSDR), Mr. Petru Litiu, Consul of Romania in Ungheni, Ms. Laura Szitar, Assistant of Foster Europe, Foundation for Strong European Region (FEF).
Two speakers were from Ukraine: Dr. Michaylo Pavliuc, Vice-executive President of the pilot Euroregion “Upper Prut”, first deputy Head of Chernivtsi Regional State Administration and Dr. Zinoviy Broyde, Director of Centre “EcoResource” (State Scientific & Technical Centre for inter-sectorial & regional problems of the Environmental Safety and Resource Conservation), Adviser of the Head of Chernivtsi Regional State Administration. After the event they had meetings with administration of Ungheni District and Ungheni City Hall and decided to have long term agreement with Chernivtsi Regional State Administration.
It was a very useful experience in discussion issues of EUSDR, especially discussion of ways of cooperation at local, national and regional levels.
